The Tennessee Irrigation Association works in conjunction with the internationally recognized Irrigation Association. With all the TIA members and IA affiliate members the Landscape Irrigation industry has a larger voice and can impact legislative advancements for limiting the use of irrigation to water our Landscapes. We as an Association can educate and promote the use of new technologies on the market today to reduce and responsibly distribute irrigation water to our landscapes.

            The Irrigation Association has set forth the Turf and Landscape Irrigation Best Management Practices to set guidelines for Irrigation installation, maintenance and management of efficient irrigation systems. Ultimately it is the responsibility of the designers, installation and maintenance contractors to implement new water efficient products and designs into new and existing irrigation systems and maintain them as such.

The five Turf and Landscape Irrigation Best Management Practices include:

1.    Assure Overall Quality of the Irrigation System;

2.    Design the Irrigation System for the Efficient and Uniform Distribution of Water;

3.    Install the Irrigation System to Meet the Design Criteria;

4.    Maintain the Irrigation System for Optimum Performance

5.     Manage the Irrigation System to Respond to the Changing Requirement for Water in the Landscape.
